Several inmates nearby watched what was happening, but no one intervened. Everyone knew Razor and understood perfectly well that whoever meddled in what was not their business would be next in the old woman’s place.
The elderly woman silently picked up the photograph.
But when she tried to stand up, Razor pushed her in the shoulder. The old woman lost her balance and fell to her knees.
The women laughed again.
— Maybe your place is not here at all, but in a nursing home?
The old woman tried to get up, but one of them pushed her again, and this time the woman fell to the ground.
— Enough, please, — she asked.
But this only amused them more.
Razor grabbed her by the clothes and forced her to stand up, after which she slapped her across the face with her palm.
— Here you will do what I say.
The old woman began to cry. She covered her head with her hands when the women began to push her from different sides, and one hit her several times on the back.
No one intervened. Everyone was afraid. But it was precisely at that moment that something so shocking happened that everyone froze in complete shock
More precisely, almost no one. By the far wall sat a young girl whom practically no one noticed in the prison.
She had ended up here several months ago, and during all that time she had spoken to almost no one. During walks she always sat alone, did not intervene in conflicts, was not rude to anyone, and even when other inmates tried to talk to her, she answered with a few words and left.
Many considered her strange, some even thought that she was simply too frightened by the prison.
That day the girl was also sitting alone and at first simply watched what was happening.
But when Razor again pushed the old woman to the ground and raised her hand to hit her once more, the girl slowly stood up.
She walked up to them and calmly said:
— Leave her alone.
In the yard it suddenly became quiet.
Razor looked at the girl for a few seconds, and then laughed.
— Are you talking to me right now?
— To you.
Razor’s friends exchanged glances
— And what will you do if I do not leave her alone?
The girl said nothing.
She simply walked up to the old woman and helped her get up.
Razor grabbed the girl by the shoulder and sharply turned her toward herself.
But just a few seconds later, something happened that no one in the yard expected.
