Margaret stared at her.
“Colonel?”
Denise continued without reacting.
“Your permission to remain in the residence has been revoked following yesterday’s assault. Law enforcement is here to preserve the peace. The locksmith will secure the property, and arrangements can be made for you to collect your belongings under supervision.”
Margaret looked at my bandaged arm.
“You brought soldiers here over a little hot water?”
General Sloan’s jaw tightened, but she did not speak for me.
Neither did Denise.
I stepped forward just far enough for Margaret to see my face clearly.
“This is not a military eviction,” I said. “Security personnel are here because this home contains protected government equipment and you have repeatedly attempted to enter my office.”
“I never attempted anything.”
“You tried the door twice.”
“I was looking for paper.”
“You were told never to enter.”
She looked toward the vehicles.
“This is intimidation.”
“No. This is the consequence of creating a security concern after assaulting me.”
