- Household chores: You don't agree on who should do what? Sit down and calmly discuss a distribution plan that seems fair to both. "I feel that I take more on my charge, maybe we could find a better balance?"
- Finances: It's a classic subject of friction. Instead of letting tension rise, why not establish a budget together? "I think we could look at our budget together, find common ground that respects our priorities both." (Also find our advice article about money in the couple.)
- After a dispute: Take a moment each on your side to take stock. When you come back to talk about it, the goal is to understand, not to win. "I want to understand why you felt like that."
By treating conflicts as opportunities to learn and grow together, not only do you decrease the frequency and intensity of disputes, but you also strengthen your bond. It is by crossing these moments, by learning to dance in the rain together, that your relationship becomes stronger, more intimate and richer.
