The Trapped Fortress
At exactly 6:00 AM, the motion sensors outside the safehouse went off. The shadows outside were moving. They were surrounded.
Julian drew his weapon, turning to Clara with a calm, determined smile. He handed her a keycard and a phone. "Take the old coal chute to the street. A car is waiting. Get to the federal building."
"I'm not leaving you to fight them alone, Julian!" Clara cried, holding his sleeve.
"You have to run, Clara," he whispered, looking at her with absolute certainty. "I brought you into this darkness, and I’m going to make sure you reach the light. Now, go!"
He turned, cocked his weapon, and kicked open the heavy metal door, stepping directly into the final battle.
